Bio

Postcards From Arkham is a Czech audio-visual project inspired by H.P. Lovecraft. Its music combines post-rock, folk, film music and metal. A one-man studio project created in 2012 grew into a post-rock band with its cofounder Marek "Frodys" Pytlik as frontman. The band has released five albums in total and played over 100 live shows across Europe.

In 2012, Marek "Frodys" Pytlik wrote and recorded the very first album, OCEANIZE. The album was released for free download and was noticed by the Břitva Awards, a Czech rock, metal and punk award given by journalists, taking 5th place in Newcomer of the Year.

A year later, 2013, the band released a new single ("You Know There's Something") and began performing live at Czech metal festivals: Czech Death Fest (2014, 2016, 2018), Lipno Fest (2014, 2017) and Brutal Assault (2015, 2017).

ÆØN5 was released in 2015 in collaboration with MetalGate, a partnership that continued for several more albums. The album tells a story, with every song carrying its own mood and genre; some contain metal vocals, but most are recited. ÆØN5 was awarded, with the video Aeon Echoes named the second-best video of the year.

After touring Europe, the band returned to the studio and made MANTA, releasing videos for "Owls Not What They Seem" and, in cooperation with Jeden Kmen, "The Kvlt Ov Dream." One year later, the band surprised fans with SPIRIT, eight songs in acoustic form.

Their last album so far, ØAKVYL (2019), was mastered by Swedish producer Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Katatonia). It took second place on the home music scene, and the video Erich Zann Syndrome took third. In 2020, Postcards From Arkham and Jeden Kmen created the short film "Yidhra," with music by the band, and a special visual presentation for the single "Mutual Distortion."

In 2022, the band celebrated its 10-year anniversary with OCEANIZE: Ten Years In Arkham, completely re-recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside a documentary tracing their ten-year career. They are currently finishing a film and soundtrack called EIGENGRAU.

V roce 2013 vydávají singl (You Know There's Something) a od roku 2014 pravidelně vystupují na českých metalových festivalech: Czech Death Fest, Lipno Fest a Brutal Assault.

Následuje akustické album SPIRIT (2018) a v roce 2019 ØAKVYL, kde se do tvorby poprvé zapojila celá kapela — album získalo 2. místo album roku, videoklip Erich Zann Syndrome 3. místo videoklipu roku.

V roce 2022 oslavili 10 let od založení vydáním alba OCEANIZE: Ten Years In Arkham, kompletně znovu nahraného během pandemie COVID-19, spolu s dokumentem mapujícím jejich desetiletou kariéru.
